Position Summary

The Senior Product Analyst (SPA) is responsible for a full range of product management activities including implementation and maintenance of insurance programs, standards and procedures using research, and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis on existing and emerging markets, products and competitors.

Essential Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. 

  • Takes ownership of an assigned region and/or segment’s profitability and performance.
  • Leads in the development, implementation and maintenance of insurance programs, standards and procedures.
    • Work directly with appropriate ICAT personnel to understand project concept, objectives and approach.
    • Define project scope and objectives.
    • Actively lead in project meetings.
    • Meet with project team(s) regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines.
    • Take assigned project from original concept through final implementation.
  • Leads in the development, implementation and maintenance of ICAT Online product changes and user experience enhancements.
    • Work directly with appropriate ICAT personnel to understand project concept, objectives and approach.
    • Define project scope and objectives.
    • Actively lead in project meetings.
    • Meet with project team(s) regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines.
    • Take assigned project from original concept through final implementation.
  • Gather and analyze ICAT data, market data, policy language and forms, endorsements, competitor activity, survey information and market trends, etc.
  • Build external relationships with carriers and customers.
  • Monitor pricing and underwriting policies and strategies in conjunction with company and legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with output from catastrophe models to quantify expected program performance.
  • Leads in the development of annual business plans and forecasts.
  • Leads in the handling of underwriting referrals.
  • Prepare rate, rule and coverage comparisons.
  • Prepare documentation for state filings.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc analysis and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials, policyholder notices, and product performance reports.
  • Assist regional executives with management of middle market underwriting
  • Ensure compliance with reinsurance, legal, regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures, carrier guidelines and underwriting standards.
  • Work with Compliance department to perform underwriting and claim review(s) to determine quality of business, reasons for loss experience, price adequacy and compliance with regulatory filings. Develop recommendations to address findings.
  • Maintain knowledge of and support ICAT’s company values and strategic plan.

Other Responsibilities

  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Perform general office administrative activities, including copying, filing and using the phone.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Sit or stand and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach.
  • Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some evening, weekend and holiday hours.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • BA in Business, Economics, Engineering, Insurance, Mathematics, Sciences, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years data analysis experience. Experience in insurance or finance industries is a plus.
  • Experience importing, cleaning, transforming, validating or modeling data, and presenting data in charts, graphs, tables.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of catastrophe modeling theory and techniques; insurance product management, including policy forms, coverage and pricing is a plus
  • CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, AU, INS a plus.
