Investments Counsel- Alternatives and Private Markets - Mercer
The alternatives and private markets group is an important and growing part of Mercer’s Investments business. The Investments Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support for our alternatives and private markets investment management and investment consulting businesses in the US. If you are experienced in hedge funds, private equity and/or fund-of- fund management we want to speak with you!
As Investments Counsel supporting the alternatives and private markets group, you will advise on all matters relating to the day-to-day operation of Mercer’s alternatives and private markets investment consulting and fund-of-fund businesses in the US, focusing primarily on the operation of our US- and Cayman-based hedge funds and private markets funds-of- funds. You will also work with fund counsel on fund structure and design, disclosures, regulatory obligations, cross-border placement activities and investment operations matters.
This position will also require drafting and negotiating complex investment advisory and investment management agreements with institutional investor clients; including endowments, foundations, defined benefit and defined contribution plans, and wealth management intermediaries. You will work closely with Compliance and Investments team colleagues on legal and tax due diligence matters as well.

We need you to possess financial acumen, exercise good judgment, demonstrate strong communications skills and have the ability to collaborate effectively with business and Legal & Compliance colleagues. We require a JD for this role, and a minimum of 3 years of experience at a law firm and/or financial services firm; preferably both.
