Summary:

Responsible for standardized employee health and benefits (EH&B) workflows and procedures including implementing minimum quality and compliance standards for the Employee Health & Benefits Division in the Upper Midwest Region.  Supports corporate and field EH&B with achieving operational efficiency through developing strategy, implementing initiatives and related reporting and analysis.  Collaborate with sales and account management work groups to identify operational initiatives that support delivering the highest level of client service.  Assists the Regional COO with EH&B compliance of state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions:

Facilitates regional collaboration of EH&B Division and Service leaders to develop common workflow standards and procedures.

Focuses on client service and client standards for retention and growth to meet client needs.

Implements and maintains region-wide adopted procedures and standards for efficiency, compliance, and consistency.

Responsible for regional EH&B compliance with state and federal regulations.

Works in conjunction with the MMA eMMA Team and agency EH&B leaders to implement, maintain and drive improvement to the EH&B systems and workflows to improve the client experience, efficiency and to monitor process adherence.

Serves as regional primary point of contact and decision maker with respect to change requests for BenefitPoint.

Manages the technology team responsible for regional support of MarketLink, HR Link and Technology Consulting.

Assists in upgrades to the agency management system and analyzing training needs of end users. 

Identifies EH&B division learning gaps and collaborates with the Manager, Learning & Development on training plan implementation.

Facilitate regular regional workgroup/focus groups with EH&B Division and Service leaders to stay informed on relevant workflow and process improvement needs/challenges.

Leads the implementation, updates and development of naming conventions and workflows for EH&B ImageRight and BenefitPoint.

Researches opportunities to improve overall EH&B operations relevant to the operational needs of the organization.

Supports Division & Service/Operations Managers by creating and analyzing reports identifying potential needs of the division and using the information to assist with improvement in overall efficiencies.

Collaborates with Client Service leaders, Sales, IT, HR, Ops and Finance on EH&B Operational initiatives.

Manages the relationship and processes with the outsourcing EH&B vendors.

Collaborates with EH&B Division & Service leaders to support onboarding new benefits operations/acquisitions, including setting expectations of MMA compliance/operations.

Collaborates with EH&B Sales and Operational/Service leaders to implement MMA Compliance Initiatives, MMA Best Practices and other Corporate Initiatives.  

Qualifications:

Position requires a service oriented individual with high personal standards and attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.  In addition, this individual must possess excellent project management and influencing skills, business acumen, adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to take risks and manage ambiguity.  The following is required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in the healthcare benefits industry working for a group, insurance carrier, broker or general agency.
  • Must have knowledge of group insurance (medical, dental, vision, life and disability products).
  • Must be detailed with excellent organizational, project planning and management skills. 
  • Must have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; take initiative; be solution focused; and be a change agent for the organization.  
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively at all levels in the organization.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure with a high sense of urgency and multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. 

    Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Office environment
  • Significant use of computer applications and ability to communicate with candidates.
  • Limited travel may be required, consisting primarily of day trips to outstate locations.
  • Extended work hours required on occasion.
