Job Summary:

The Director uses deep industry and technical knowledge to build and manage a team to help develop break through solutions for the client in the area of field services, advanced manufacturing & quality.  The Director must have a good understanding and the ability to apply these solutions across the Automotive / Aerospace / General Manufacturing / Power Generation / Transportation industries.  The Director is responsible for P&L across the field services, advanced manufacturing & quality portfolio.  This includes, revenue generation, profit management, solution offerings, staffing & successful delivery of projects with high customer satisfaction. The Director is responsible for the day to day management and execution of client projects in an international environment.  The Director builds a strong brand with the client and leverages this to sell follow-on engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide increasing amount of leverage to Vice Presidents in selling projects and developing scope of work
  • Leverage current projects to build future book of business
  • Participate in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the business unit.
  • Support the organization's strategic alliances and partnership.
  • Translate the scope of work in to an actionable work plans for the client and internal project teams
  • Manage project teams and monitor project budgets
  • Serve as a day to day senior client contact
  • Grow the technical and consulting expertise with in the company and focus on strengthen the skill base of the more junior technical experts
  • Leverage deep industry knowledge from a technical or operational perspective to benefit the client
  • Leverage deep knowledge of technical aspects and usage use statistical engineering & advanced analytical operational methods to drive fact based client decision
  • Design and develop scientific/ engineering / advanced analytical operational methods and tools to strengthen the Harbour consulting tool box and enable new consulting solutions in lock step with the changes in the client environment
  • Develop and present findings to client senior management
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects
  • Travel nationally and internationally, as required, to support clients in this solution area
  • Develop the business and capabilities in field operations improvement, digital manufacturing & quality solution areas. 
  • Work with the Technical Risk Management Director to build end to end IIoT & Industry 4.0 solutions

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of more junior team members
  • Prepare reviews for more junior employees
  • Coach and mentor employees to enhance professional growth and personal development
  • Assist in hiring the proper technical resources to support this business

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Client relationship management skills required to sell projects and follow-up work
  • Ability to manage senior client relationships
  • Experience in managing a team of consultants
  • Deep industry expertise in multiple relevant areas
  • Extensive experience with field services, manufacturing & product development process and environments
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to structure and execute analysis
  • Profound statistical engineering skills and  problem solving skills to drive business optimization
  • Broad industry experience in Automotive / Aerospace / General Manufacturing / Power Generation / Transportation industries in field services, advanced manufacturing & quality
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • English language skills 

Education and experience:

  • Engineering degree / undergraduate degree from an accredited university with relevant course work or commensurate work experience in Automotive / Aerospace / General Manufacturing / Power Generation / Transportation industries
  • Experience in leveraging big data & advanced analytics to applying enterprise operations improvement programs
  • 8 plus years of relevant prior work experience in engineering, manufacturing, field services or technical consulting organizations
  • 5 plus years of prior experience in technical consulting
  • MBA or Master’s in a technical field preferred

Harbour Consulting:

  • Strong understanding of  field services and/or manufacturing domain
  • Engineering degree / undergraduate degree from an accredited university or commensurate work experience
  • Broad industry experience in Automotive / Aerospace / General Manufacturing / Power Generation / Transportation industries in field services, advanced manufacturing & quality
  • Experience in leveraging big data & advanced analytics to applying enterprise operations improvement programs
  • Experience in problem solving and plant optimization in multinational companies
  • 8 plus years of prior engineering or manufacturing experience
  • 5 plus years of prior experience in technical consulting
  • MBA or Master’s in a technical field preferred
