Job Overview

Oliver Wyman is seeking an Assistant Human Capital Manager to be the point of contact for all employees within a specified region.   Responsibilities include the coordination and support of a variety of Human Capital activities including employee engagement, employee relations, orientation, program administration, policy and procedure implementation support, as well as payroll and benefits employee assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations, Engagement and Communications

  • Handle and resolve employee relations issues, escalating to HC leadership when necessary
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on issues relating to performance, fairness, and culture
  • Perform and support employee investigations in conjunction with HC Ops, when required
  • Manage involuntary terminations, ensure they are handled professionally and empathetically
  • Lead initiatives to build and maintain a strong office community in an inclusive environment
  • Support development of programs designed to create strong commitment and participation in office events
  • Create and distribute employee communications as required

Pre-Hire, Orientation, Training and Exits

  • Manage new employee onboarding, orientation, schedule and conduct sessions
  • Process employee transactions (hires, terms, payroll changes, position changes, department changes, LOAs) for Workday updates via Employee Transaction Tool (ET)
  • Troubleshoot operational issues for new hires
  • Manage exit process and ensure employee is transitioned properly

Program Administration; Policy and Procedure Implementation

  • Ensure uniform and equitable application of policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and answer questions on policy interpretation
  • Provide HC guidance and direction to office leadership
  • Manage Talent Management programs
  • Manage time off reporting, policies, service awards
  • Support internal and external audits

Payroll and Benefits Oversight

  • Initial point of contact for payroll and benefit questions
  • Problem solve issues that are not being resolved through the various helpdesk mechanisms
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the service center or HC Operations as necessary
  • Request special payments

Talent Acquisition and Retention for Support Professionals (SPs)

  • Support hiring managers and Talent Management in understanding job requirements of open roles
  • Partner with hiring managers to manage on-boarding process
  • Lead, implement and support talent retention and career development strategies

Talent Management Initiatives for Celent Specialists

  • Develop career path and progression model (roles, titles, levels) that allows for development of long-term specialized expertise and depth within the team
  • Develop competencies for levels
  • Develop performance management process that focuses on continuous feedback and providing coaching for career discussions and career plans
  • Support development of compensation structure to align with performance review process
  • Develop strong mentorship/career advisory relationship structure

Other Responsibilities

  • Support Independent Contractor process

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of human resources generalist experience required, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Three years leadership experience - leading projects and/or teams, facilitating discussions, coaching clients, mentoring more junior HR colleagues, and advocating for policy or other initiatives
  • HR Certification desired

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel, Power Point and Workday a plus
  • Proven coaching and conflict management skills
  • Experience balancing ever-changing work demands in a challenging environment with numerous stakeholders to satisfy
