We are looking for an individual who has worked as an underwriter in the binding authority space or have portfolio underwriting experience. This is a unique role for an exciting team in a team during a period of exciting change. Working autonomously, although part of a wider Private Client division, you will be tasked with taking ownership of the divisions binders and underwriting responsibilities in accordance with the binding authority.

Duties will include:

  • Underwriting Private Client business in accordance with the binding authority granted to the Division
  • Quoting new business, renewals, assessing risks and underwriting from a cover and rating basis within risk appetite; providing contract certainty, underwriting performance and limits of liability
  • Acting as a support/referral point to the Client Advisors and Client Executives
  • Working with the existing insurers to form lasting relationships and trust
  • Regularly reviewing covers against market activity and negotiating inclusions with existing insurers
  • Developing business through corporate connected opportunities
  • Producing and maintaining underwriting files for both internal and external viewing and to prepare for audit
  • Inputting quotations and issue certificates competently on the required computer platform
  • Providing relevant MI to senior to the senior management team

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • HNW binding authority underwriting experience would be an advantage but other industry specialisms will be considered
  • Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills essential
  • Strong negotiating and Influencing skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • ACII part/fully qualified (or equivalent) preferred
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications and CRM databases (ideally SalesForce.com)
