Mercer Alternatives’ Global Head of Private Debt (“GHPD”) has primary responsibility for overseeing the research, advice, investment execution and portfolio implementation of private debt strategies globally across clients’ full governance continuum (non and quasi-discretionary advisory and delegated / implemented solutions).The GHPD reports in to Mercer Alternatives’ Global Chief Investment Officer, who is based in London, but the successful applicant could be based in London, Zurich, Dublin, New York, Norwalk, Richmond, Atlanta, St Louis, Minneapolis or Sacramento.

Internal-Facing Responsibilities

·Lead and manage global team of private debt investment professionals (North America and Europe); provide strong mentorship and development opportunity

·Provide primary peer review on private debt team’s work product – ensure final deliverables are technically accurate and of high quality

·Facilitate and streamline regular communication of research views, forward calendars and market risks and opportunities within the broader consulting base within Mercer

·Coordinate responses to ad hoc client requests with respect to private debt across the client governance and execution spectrum

·Maintain and continually innovate Private Debt marketing materials with assistance from the business development team

·Embody the One Mercer culture and develop / remain accountable for the Global Private Debt team’s goals and objectives as they relate to Mercer Alternatives’ overall Comprehensive Annual Business Plan

·Regularly update the Global CIO of Alternatives on team activities, initiatives and significant developments / challenges

External-Facing Responsibilities

·Represent and advocate Mercer Alternatives’ Private Debt platform and capabilities at industry conferences, general partner annual / other meetings, Mercer’s Global Investment Forums, media outlets and other commercial events

·Maintain and develop strong relationships with highly sought-after managers in the private debt space

·Interact with existing clients and potential new clients across the governance continuum

·Contribute to sourcing and pursuit of new business opportunities

·Regularly contribute to Mercer Alternatives’ thought leadership (quarterly market reports, white papers and liaising with Mercer’s internal communications, PR and strategic research groups)

Qualifications

·Strong experience and technical knowledge of the global private debt asset class across direct lending (senior, subordinated, unitranche and blended strategies), special situations debt and opportunistic debt

·Commercial presentation skills and industry presence

·Incumbent relationships with private debt managers is preferred

·Strong team leadership and management skills

·Proven ability of cross-collaboration and success of coordinating with global professionals

·10+ years of institutional experience in private markets, with a strong emphasis on private debt preferred

·Suitable educational qualifications at undergraduate and/or postgraduate/professional body level
